Earth Day Everyday ๐ F2P Celebrates Regenerative Agriculture
This Earth Day ๐, Farm2People wants to share more about our mission to support regenerative agriculture. Our farmer-centered focus is the value that sets Farm2People apart from most hunger relief missions. Our first priority is to support independent California producers who self-report a variety of climate-mitigating farming solutions they employ to grow food that is healthy for the planet and healthy for the food seeker.
Supporting small and midsized farmers practicing regenerative forms of agriculture is one of the most important things Farm2People does. These farmers require advanced support, because their work is labor intensive and provides ecological and community benefits beyond the benefits they generate for themselves. Their work helps to sequester carbon, protects our waterways from harmful chemical run off, grows healthier more nourishing food and provides healthier working conditions for farm laborers!
The NRDC defines Regenerative Agriculture as "farming and ranching in harmony with nature." Regenerative agriculture contrasts with the dominant Western system of industrial farming that relies on chemical pollutants and poses welfare challenges to animal livestock, the environment and vulnerable farm laborers.
As the Cool Farm Alliance states:
๐ "It means thinking beyond minimizing or halting our negative impacts โ it advocates that food and agricultural systems must build and enhance ecosystems." ๐
Our renewed commitment to the regenerative community is currently at work as we work to deliver AAPI focused produce to our partners at CAP OC. Please stay tuned as we deliver a variety of nutrition supportive fruits and vegetables, grown responsibly and with love!
And Happy Earth Day! ๐ ๐ฅ ๐ ๐ฅ ๐
